Filipa Pato

Filipa Pato

Between Porto and Lisbon is Bairrada. Due to the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean, this is one of the areas in Portugal with the most rainfall. In the lowlands the terrain is varied, consisting mainly of clay and lime. At this location, on 12 hectares scattered on plots throughout the area, using biodynamic agriculture and minimal intervention in the winery, Filipa Pato and her husband, Belgian sommelier and restaurateur William Wouters, produce “Vinhos Autênticos Sem Maquilagem”, translated as: Authentic Wines and without makeup. For us, they are clean, fresh and elegant, made of fruit with a soul, which have an authentic and complex taste and clear handwriting of the winemaker. These are some of the most impressive Portuguese wines. You should try the land-specific varieties Baga, Bical, Arinto, Cercial and Maria Gomes in the beautiful interpretation of Filipa Pato.

Bical

Bical

Bical is a white wine grape variety with a yellow skin, grown in the Portuguese regions of Bairrada and Dão. It is famous for its aromas of stone fruits - apricot and peach, with additional tropical notes in warmer crops. It ripens early and can develop excessive alcohol levels if not harvested in time. Bical responds well to oak aging and prolonged contact with lees, with the best wines of the variety being able to age for more than a decade and acquiring characteristics similar to aged Riesling.
