Château Troplong Mondot
Chateau Troplong Mondot is the Premier Grand Cru Classe B. The beautiful winery dates back to 1745, when Troplong Mondot was part of a large domain, including even the vineyards of Chateau Pavie. The winery now has 33 ha of vineyards along Mondot Hill, northeast of the Saint-Emilion appellation, planted with 90% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc. Due to the cooler terroir on the hills and the clay soil, Troplong Mondot are often the last to harvest. 75% of the barrels are new French oak, where the wine ages for 16 to 24 months. Chateau Troplong Mondot wine has a unique style - thick and filling the mouth, but never heavy. It is more sensual than elegant for the palate, full of flavors and develops and ages beautifully.
