For years, the Swiss entrepreneur Urban Kaufmann has been traveling through some of the best wine-growing regions in Europe, in search of the perfect place to realize his dream - to make wine. During his search, he met Eva Raps, a longtime director of the VDP (Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter), an association of more than 200 German producers of high-quality wines. Thus was born a remarkable project with an excellent portfolio of vineyards, a lot of imagination, craftsmanship and the traditional values ​​of the Rheingau wine region. The new team remains committed to the classic Rheingau, Riesling grapes, but also successfully grows Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and especially Pinot Noir - the variety with which Weingut Kaufmann has attracted considerable attention in Germany for more than twenty years. Today the winery is among the few organically certified in Rheingau. According to Eva Raps, the benefits of organic viticulture are already there and lead to the creation of wines with great finesse and beautiful aromas.
