Chateau L`Evangile is famous for one of the first vineyards in Pomerol. At the beginning of the 19th century the property acquired the look it is in today, and in 1868 L'Evangile was included in the list of Premier Cru du Haut-Pomerol. In 1990, Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite acquired the mansion and from that time the renovation of the vineyards and the winery began. The 14 hectares of vines are planted with Merlot 78% and Cabernet Franc 22% on gravel mixed with sand and clay. Vinification is traditional with long fermentation and maturation in 40% new oak for 16 - 20 months. The quality is constantly growing and with Michel Rolland as a consultant L'Evangile offers a class that competes with that of the famous Pétrus and Lafleur.
