Château d'Aiguilhe
The winery was known as Chateau La Fleur d’Aiguilhe, but in 1989 Stephan von Neipperg renamed it Chateau d’Aiguilhe. In French it means needle and refers to the rocky place in the Cotes de Castillon region, within the chateau where the remains of a 13th century Templar fortress are located. The chateau has a unique location and has some of the most beautiful vineyards in the Cotes-de-castillon appeal. Today the property owns 111 hectares, of which 50 are planted with vineyards with southern exposure and excellent natural drainage. The plantations are 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc and are grown in a sustainable and biodynamic way without the use of pesticides. The chief oenologist is Jean-Patrick Meyrignac, who respects the terroir and transfers it to the cellar. The grapes are not crushed, but by gravity are lowered into the vessels. Each plot has its own vinification vessel. Chateau d’Aiguilhe wines are light
