Château Brane-Cantenac has been home to Lucien Lurton for many years and is currently run by his son Henri. The vineyards are west of the village of Cantenac in the Margaux appellation. They are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Merlot (40%), Cabernet Franc (4.5%) and Carmenère 0.5%, on gravelly soil. Vinification includes up to 18 months of aging in 30 to 50% new oak. Brane-Cantenac was considered a winery in the 1970s and 1980s. With the advent of Henri Lurton began a serious improvement in agricultural practices and investment in the winery. As a result, their wines now have more density and richness, while retaining the impressive bouquet and elegance that characterize Margaux. Château Brane-Cantenac is classified as 2ème Cru Classé.
