The La Scolca mansion was purchased between 1917 and 1919 by the great-grandfather of Giorgio Soldati, who now runs the company with his daughter Chiara. The name of the property La Scolca comes from "Sfurca" or "Look into the distance" (the house was once an observation post) and is in line with the vision of the Soldati family for the future of the property. In 1919, the land was used to produce grain, and the rest was covered with forest. The Soldati changed the landscape and planted vineyards with the white Cortese variety in an area that was traditionally used for growing only red grapes. However, this foresight pays off - soon production becomes a large enterprise. La Scolca is the oldest company in the area run by the same family, but perhaps one of the most modern. The Soldati family is proving to be an innovative entrepreneur, whose production glorifies the Gavi region and the Cortese grapes not only in Italy but also around the world.
